Government has allocated resources to initiate the development and proper organization of the Esports sector.

For far too long, practices that were once clearly wrong gradually became tolerated across several sectors of our national life. What began as isolated irregularities slowly evolved into a culture of informality and disorder. That era is coming to an end.

Under the government’s Resetting Agenda, decisive steps are being taken to restore standards, rebuild institutions, and bring order to emerging industries that are vital to the country’s future  including Esports.

Recognizing the rapid growth and national potential of the Esports industry, the Government of the Republic of Ghana has directed that the sector be properly organized, regulated, and aligned with the broader objectives of national sports development and youth innovation.

In accordance with this directive, the Ghana Esports Federation has been mandated to lead the structuring and coordination of Ghana’s Esports ecosystem. The federation will work to ensure that Esports activities across the country operate within a recognized, transparent, and accountable framework that safeguards the integrity and long-term sustainability of the industry.

As part of this reform process, the government has allocated resources to initiate the development and proper organization of the Esports sector. These resources will support the creation of structured systems that will guide the growth of Esports in Ghana and position the country as a competitive player in the global digital sports landscape.

The federation will in the coming weeks convene key stakeholder engagements and conduct nationwide consultations with Esports entities. These consultations will contribute to the development of a clear, inclusive, and sustainable roadmap for the future of Esports in Ghana.

Crucially, this reform process will also acknowledge the contributions of those who sustained the industry long before formal structures existed. Registered entities that have actively organized Esports activities in Ghana over the past eight years will receive compensation in recognition of their role in keeping the ecosystem alive during its formative years.

“This reform is not only about building a structured future for Esports in Ghana it is also about recognizing and respecting those who carried the industry through years without institutional support,” said Igor Boumekpo, President of the Ghana Esports Federation.

The future of esports in Ghana will be built on order, transparency, accountability, and national purpose.
